Gary T. Aka

Gary Aka earned a B.S. degree in Physics (with a minor in Mathematics) from the University of Hawaii in 1968, and an M.S. degree in Physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1971. In 1974 he earned his J.D. from the Hastings College of the Law. After working and studying in Japan for two years, Gary worked as a patent attorney in Silicon Valley at Silonic, Fairchild Semiconductor, and Advanced Micro Devices. He then joined the firm of Townsend and Townsend and Crew where he was a partner for 15 years. Gary is a member of the California and Hawaii (inactive status) Bars and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Melvin D. Chan

Melvin Chan earned his B.S. in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. Mel has been practicing intellectual property law since 1994. Mel began his career at and is a former partner of Townsend and Townsend and Crew. Mel is a member of the California bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
